Residence Life and Housing

Community

Living on campus means living in community—with all its benefits and challenges. North Park works hard to provide support and resources college students need to make smart, safe, and healthy choices for their education and social lives. One of the hallmarks of our campus community is also learning what community is and broadening cultural understanding. Opportunities for this come in many forms, from residence-hall activities to all-campus activities to student organizations. It is imperative that all students have the same access to these resources, and feel safe to ask questions, explore opportunities, and help each other learn both in and out of the classroom.

Community Standards

North Park University’s community standards are designed to create an environment that supports these goals. All students, faculty, and staff are asked to abide by the following statements:

  • I will practice personal and academic integrity.
  • I will demonstrate concern for myself and others, which encourages growth, learning, and development.
  • I will respect the rights, property, and dignity of all persons.

You can find more information regarding community standards, the student conduct process, and student’s rights and responsibilities in the Student Handbook.

Visiting Hours

A great benefit of being in Chicago is having visitors on campus. To promote safety and uphold guidelines in the Student Handbook, on-campus residents may have visitors in their residence halls, apartments, and houses if they follow these guidelines:

  • Visiting Hours (for all guests of the opposite sex):
    • Sunday–Thursday: 10:00 am-midnight
    • Friday–Saturday: 10:00 am–2:00 am
  • Limited to two (2) guest/visitations in the residence halls.
  • All visitors at residence halls and Park North apartments—members of the community and non-North Park guests—must sign in at the front desk of the residence and leave a valid form of photo ID (student ID, passport, driver’s license, or state ID) to be picked up upon departure. The host and guest must check in at the front desk together.
  • The guest and host in residence halls must return to the desk together to check out. Failure to check in and/or out guest(s) will result in, but not be limited to, a possible loss of visitation privileges, fines, or other student conduct sanctions.
